There's A First For Everything...

When it comes to writing my first thought isn’t, how amazing can I make this sound? No, actually most of my thoughts revolve around food, sleep, and anything else I could be doing aside from torturing myself with the written word. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love writing. It’s a passion I’ve had since I was old enough to put sentences together. Looking back, I believe my first real story was about a little girl who died and went to Heaven. The eye-opener that something was wrong with me should have been the six page funeral scene I wrote where everyone was absolutely distraught.

-Shameless Open Space-

My mom used to say, 'It's just a phase.' But my writing went from sweet children in Heaven, to war and violence. My characters began maiming each other, killing themselves, and ending everything in bloody battle. I actually used to think my signature as an author could be the amount of people killed off in my work, and then I was pointed to George R. R Martin. Yea, that man was my hero. My 'just a phase' turned into a life-long goal.

This blog isn’t as much to benefit you, as it is to just help shamelessly promote myself. Also, give myself an outlet when I have that disagreeable Writer’s Block we all, I’m sure, suffer from. I’m not entirely sure what this blog is going to be about, aside from poetry and life, but I do hope it entertains the people that choose to follow, or watch me. I don’t know what these sites call “followers”.

I’ll post short stories, poems, maybe some excerpts from upcoming books. Did I mention I’m a part-time author? What are we called? Indie authors, I believe, is the proper term. That’s where the shamelessly self-promotion comes in.

Is this post adequate in length yet? For now, I’m going to assume it is and bid you all farewell for now. Have a blessed evening and always keep writing.

Sincerely,
SLMcGinnis
